“What If We Don't”  synesthesia painting inspired by @ashleymcbryde

i’ve loved this song for years, but hearing the newly released version uncovered a deeper emotional stillness within it.

painting this song felt like standing inside an emotional tipping point. deep blues and layered violets expand and contract with the song’s restraint, while crimson and saturated reds pulse in rhythm with the rising emotional weight beneath the lyrics.

one half created in uv reactive pigments visible under blacklight; a deliberate divide between what is openly felt and what remains hidden beneath restraint.

sharp white streaks cut across the surface like interruptions in the stillness, fleeting surges of intensity that break through the quiet tension without fully resolving it.

dense texture builds across the surface the way the song holds tension without release, creating a visual rhythm that feels introspective, vulnerable, and quietly brave.
